Barack Obama, successful lawyer, contitututional law professor, urban and civil rights activist, and senator from Illinois, is the Democratic nominee for the presidency of the United States of America. He was born on August 4, 1961, in Hawaii. His parents are Ann Dunham and Barack Obama Sr. Barack Obama graduated from Columbia University, New York, in 1983, and proceeded to earn his Law degree at Harvard in 1991. Barack was the first African-American to become the president of the Harvard Law Review.
After College, Obama served in the Illinois senate for eight years, and then he was elected senator for Illinois in 2004. His US senate term began on January 3, 2005. A teacher, he was a Law teacher for 12 years at the University of Chicago. Obama now has a wife named Michelle and two daughters, Malia and Sasha.
Joe Biden, Senator from Delaware and AMTRACK commuter, is the Democratic ticket vice presidental candidate. He was born the oldest of four children in Scranton, Pennsylvania, on November 20, 1942. His parents’ names are Joseph Biden Sr. and Jean Biden. In 1953, his family moved to Claymont, Delaware, where he attended Archmere Academy. He graduated from the University of Delaware in 1965, and then worked for his Law degree at Syracuse University until 1968. After college, Joe Biden started a law firm in Wilmington, Delaware, which he worked at until 1972.
At age 29, in 1972, Biden unseated 2-term Republican US Senator J. Caleb Boggs by 3,162 votes with his sister as his campaign manager. A few weeks after the election, his wife, Neilia, and his 1-year old daughter died in a car crash. His 2 sons were critically injured, and he was sworn in to the Us Senate next to their hospital beds, and commuted by train back and forth between his house Delaware and Washington DC every day for the duration of his Senate Career. In 1977, Joe Biden married Jill Jacobs, a professor at Delaware Technical Community College with a PHD in Education.
In the year 1988 Joe Biden had a life-threatening cranial aneurism. After two surgeries, he recovered in 1989 and has been fine since. Joe Biden has been an adjunct professor at the Syracuse University School of Law, he teaches a seminar on constitutional law. Joe currently has three children, Hunter, Beau, and Ashley. Hunter is Delaware’s Attorney General, Ashley is a social worker, and Hunter is a lawyer. Biden also has five grandchildren, Naomi, Finnegan, Roberta Mabel, Natalie, and Robert Hunter.
